Situated amongst interior forests and gentle rolling ranch land, Williams Lake is a hub for forestry, mining, ranching, tourism, and transportation. Service and manufacturing industries also support this resource-based sector. The diversity of the various industry sectors makes it easy for newcomers and residents alike to find a fit for their talent, interests and needs, and a balanced lifestyle.

Education facilities include public schools, two high schools, and Thompson Rivers University (TRU) which offers a wide selection of post-secondary programs including first year degree, diploma, foundation, certificate, and trades apprenticeship programs. Williams Lake is the health care center for the South Cariboo and Chilcotin region serving a regional population of over 53,000.

There is an abundance of outdoor recreation opportunities just outside the doorstep including, water sports, skiing, fishing, hunting, hiking, golfing, mountain biking, equestrian programs and much more. Outdoor activities are complemented by various indoor activities offered at the Cariboo Memorial Complex which includes twin ice arenas, and aquatic center, and multi-purpose spaces for other leisure activities.

This lively Cariboo town is home to the infamous Williams Lake Stampede, “the wildest show west of the rocks”, which takes place every July 1st. Canada Day long weekend, and draws crowds and participants from all over Canada.
