Meet the City
Prince George is a thriving center for industry, culture, and transportation. It is located at the confluence of two major waterways, the Fraser and Nechako Rivers, and it is also the junction of two of the province’s main road arteries, Hwy 16 and Hwy 97. From here, it is north to Alaska, west to the Pacific Ocean, south and east to other parts of Canada and North America. It is the hub of the province, and a city that is rich in history and culture.

Prince George is the main manufacturing, service, and business hub for Northern and Central BC.
CN rail, the only transcontinental railway in North America, operates a distribution center in Prince George. Connecting three coasts, the Atlantic, Pacific and the Gulf of Mexico, CN rail’s 20,000-mile network spans Canada and Mid-America, accessing every major urban market in North America. Additionally, the CN intermodal terminal in Prince George connects Northern BC by rail, trucks, and vessels to reach various destinations across the US and Canada.
An international airport services Prince George and travellers from all over the world stop or connect here. Major airline carriers include Westjet and Air Canada.
Prince George is home to the University of Northern BC, CNC community college, and multiple secondary and primary schools. The University Hospital of Northern British Columbia (UHNBC) is the largest acute care facility in the region, and provides specialized health services. BC Cancer Centre for the North is also located here.
